Pangasius Catfish - Help

I have found myself in a very difficult position with a beautifiul fish which i now believe to be Pangasius. He was bought a few years ago and sold to me as 4-5 inch Catfish who would be fine in my asian set up tank. I have now pretty much confirmed that he is in fact Pangasius and is currently at around 12-13 inches in size and rapidly outgrowing my tank. I have no facilities to upgrade this tank further and am finding it exceeding ly difficult to rehome home having contacted sealife aquariums, catfish specialist etc..

Does anyone have any ideas where i could find assitance regarding this matter, as i am painfully aware that he will ultimately die should he not be suitably house, any suggestions would be fantastic.

I would suggest posting on here in the marketplace. I would also suggest finding ur local area fish club and other groups on fb and post there as well. If u post it as free then I believe you’ll get better responses but that’s up to you as far as pricing.

Hmm,it definitely is some kind of pangasius but it doesn't look like a common irredescent shark.How big is your tank and where are you located?

My tank is a Jewel Lido 200 (200 Litres) which is really not even close to big enough for him since moving him into this tank he has close to doubled in size. I am located in Dundee Scotland..... I can try to get more photo's later today and shall post them, his nose doesnt look as flat in those pics as he is currently housing a small bump due to him battering the tank as he has become increasingly skittish.

Oh.I was hoping you were in the U.S. and particularly near the state of Ohio as there is a member who runs an impressive rescue for such fish.Good luck rehoming it.

Thank you but i dont think it is going to be very easy as he is pretty rare around here which poses me a bigger problem.

I thinl the rarity of the fish could work in your favor but it's size could be the main issue.

It's an iridescent shark catfish indeed, with damaged snout and eyes that have outgrown its head significantly - a telltale sign of stunting usually, or a result of a disease but unlikely so.

Finding it a new home is well prescribed above. Got to advertise and make sure the prospective owner has what it takes to keep it.

Planet Catfish has a Scottish origin and you might advertise there too, as well as on ScotCat.

If all fails, it can be humanely euthanized, IMHO.
