I recently got a Regani a couple of week ago and it is around 1.5-2 inch, the blue/green sheen has just started to come through on the body so I was wondering would you guys share some of your Regani pictures and also tell me what there temperament is like?

Isla Taboga Panama via Milwaukee

At about 6" mine started killing every cichlid it was housed with in a 150 gal.
It was then put in a 240 gal where it killed a much larger Amphilophus citrinellus and Herichthys carpintus.

Attractive fish, although I find them difficult to photograph effectively because of their iridescence (the flash creates either a silvery shine, or the image is underexposed). In my experience V. regani are less aggressive than other Vieja (e.g., maculicauda, bifasciatus). However, given Duanes' experience, individuals clearly can differ in terms of aggression. My larger individual (about 6") is in a mixed 210 gallon CA community. The torn fins are from earlier encounters with more aggressive tank mates. All and all I really like this species.

Thanks guys, mine looks the same as yours at 3 inch. It's very peaceful at the minute. But I shall keep my eye on it.

You should be able to see it in this video<object width="960" height="720"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/VgHq9Lonrfs?version=3&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/VgHq9Lonrfs?version=3&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="960" height="720" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

I have four of them in with other CAs. Mine are quite shy, almost skittish at times. They aren't aggressive feeders either and are easily intimidated by other "pushier" fish. They range from 8-10", IM, 3F I think. IMO,one of the prettiest Paraneetroplus out there. I'm sure their behavior can be quite variable (EX. Duane's) depending on tank mates, tank size, etc. but I find them almost a little delicate , especially when young.

Thanks chaps. Im hoping to have the Regani as the centre piece of the tank. He's currently in a 125 gal 5x2x2 with a pair of chocolates,4 krobia xinguensis, 2 ebjds and a male Cuban which will probably move on depending on the temperament. So the male chocolate and Regani will be the big fish of the tank, I'm looking for a semi peaceful tank do you think that will work?
