Anyone know the type of Starry Night Cichlid. I inherited it with a Craigslist tank and absolutely love it. It’s like a puppy. It wims up to the glasss every time you go near the tank and takes food from my hand.

yes, kinda thought that was pretty clear from the info in the link that I posted.
 
Unless you got it from a respected dealer who know the difference, and got breeding stock before they closed exportation of wildlife from Malagascar, you should assume, "aquarium strain polleni", although there are many species besides polleni.
there are P
species Marolambo (available from Daves Rare Fish in Texas
types from the east coast AKA Fony, or Sofony
there are those from the Betsileo highlands AKA Fiamanga
there are southwest populations,
small spot from lower northwest,
and probably more, or yet to be discovered
all are slightly different, and yet remarkably similar
below Anadapa

and "sp small spot"
