Hello,

I was a member of the forum under a different name in years gone by but I’ve forgotten that log in. I have been reading posts on Polypterus for about a year whilst I’ve grown my collection and now I want to contribute again :)

My first question is in regards to a (hopefully) PBB that I bought yesterday. It is currently quite washed out due to being kept on light sand so hopefully we will see it improve over time.

If anyone could contribute on confirming an ID that would be great.

I will also upload photos of the other bichirs in my collection currently!

Really awesome collection, what are the size? And how many you have?

For the pbb it does look like it, looks CB pbb.
Thank you. Sizes vary, grow out endli’s are only about 4” and the PBB is 16”.

In total across 3 tanks:
2x endlicheri
1x ansorgii
2x senegals
1x teugelsi
4x delhezi
3x mokelembembe
1x weeksii
1x polli
1x PBB

I think that’s all of them!

is....is that a blue gilled WC del? woah.

yup what Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 said - CB semi SB PBB. Very cute.
It was imported several years ago, I believe it is WC and yes, that blue gill is something I’d never seen before!

Thanks for the input on the PBB I think it’s the angles of the photo making it look semi SB. I’ll try and get some better photos. Here’s another 2 for now.

Darker substrate that pbb will be a stunner.

The thick broad short looking body strongly resembles a captive bred. What country would you happen to be from?

I am hoping to get garnet sand to enhance the colours.

I’m from England. I picked this PBB up yesterday, the gentleman reckoned it was imported as a WC by Neil Hardy but I’m not convinced. I’m not that worried either way if I’m honest, it’s a nice fish and that’s what matters to me.
