I've got a 10cm mono peacock bass atm in a 4x2x2 tank & I wanted to buy a barramundi, there's a place that has a 5cm one for cheap. Would the barra & the peacock bass get along in the tank? and how long before I would need to upsize to maybe a 6 or 8ft?

Im no expert but i would not do it your tank is going to be plenty full with just that one mono bass. Plus barramundi get huge over six feet long in the wild and at least 3-4ft in aquarium if you have honest fast plans for a tank up grade to fit the fish then yes but if not i dont recommend. Both of those fish grow fast if feed right.

would they get along though without fighting? i have found another barra but its gonna be slightly bigger than my peacock and im just worried that the bass are usually too timid at this age and the barra might bully it do you think this would be a problem

They should get along, you might see some flaring or pushing but the temperments should not be that different from each other. The biggest thing to worry about is the fact the barra is bigger and will most likely grow faster as well. He will eat /out compete your peacock bass.
