Hi guy's. I was in my LFS today and the had a fish labled pearl arowana..looks beautiful..only about 3". Would anyone have any information specifically on this type of arowana as i cant seem to find much literature on them.
thanks

Search "jardini" this will give you much more info. As are all arowana they get quit large, with proper care you should expect over 24". Minimum tank size for an adult would be a 180g(6'x2'x2') tank, though increasing the width to 30" would be much more desirable. Many people have been able to keep jardini in community tanks, a much higher percentage have had them turn psycho and kill all other fish in the tank. So there is a good chance that the jardini would be the only fish you could have in the tank.

pearl is another name for the australian Jardini arowana. very nice yet can be very agressive. I have one myelf

i have one too, about 15 inches, very aggressive but has a lot more character than other arowanas. they are not as shy as the silver and black arowanas.

hey guy's im going to buy this wee guy today...he's very small 3". what food should i purchase when i collect him? i saw they had all the usual frozen stuff..bloodworm,,mysis shrimp, cyclops, lobster eggs..Im already feeing a few small fronts NLS 1mm pellet.

he will be housed with a few baby frontosa(probably not a good idea but they are only 1.5") and really shy..so i hope he can handle it!

Ask the shop what they've been feeding him. Mine accepted bloodworms, shrimp and pellets when I got it as a juvie. Good luck!
