why are they not pearl motoro as aposed to marble motoro sort of thing

are they even a motoro at all and if not what are the charictoristics that seporate them from

thanks.

There are so many variations of motoros. I've often wondered too if pearls are a varient of motoros. Has anyone looked at morphological differences?

They look completely different? lol. Take a look in the media lounge, they look pretty different both at birth and as adults.

looks are deceptive but that really is reason for asking .

ive looked at quite a few and i can see they look different but ... how many marble motoros look the same or look like regular motoros .

im certainly not saying that perls are just fancy motoros and im not saying they are a variation of marbles .

im just asking , if they are not a variation of motoro then what is it that seporates them and excludes them from having the motoro name

ie tail spines . some difference in spots you dont get in motoros . are they found in a different river system ? i really dont know hence the reason for asking .

Motoros generally come from EVERY rays can be found, so Im guessing we cant base location in as a factor. Tail wise, from what I can see, they both look nearly the same, both are pretty long and about the same shape with some spikes covering the base of the tail. Someone will have to take a close up picture of a spine from the pearl though.

Hi Gaz.
See if this makes any sense to you.The Motoros that bare a striking resemblance to some Pearls are the clear base ones from Colombia and Venezuela,no Peruvian or Brasilian Motoro ive ever seen compares to a Pearl.Pearls originate from Brasil only so have no direct connection to true Marbles.
I can post pictures on here to show the resemblance if you wish betweem Clear base Marble and Pearl ray.

haha . thanks richard . that does sound pretty interesting . pictures are allways good regardless of why

sounds like you answered my question though . i hope it was helpfull to more than just me :)

Heres a striking resemblance between a Pearl and a clear base Marble....you can see why this question as been asked. Both species are very variable, here i have posted a picture of one of my darker Pearls, this one has the classic Pearl look, nothing like any Motoro ive seen.

Cheers Gaz.
