Petland fish ID, not sure

Had no price tag, he was the only one of his kind, looked a lot like a jag with black coloration so I just assumed, I got him for 10 bucks. His colors are light now. He is about 2.5 inches, what do you think, jag or mixed?

Most Parachromis look very similar at the stage of your pic, so differences are often subtle. Here are some to of the genus compare, other people can add other pics to help.

Probably no way to determine the sex visually but can I vent or too small?
