so i went to petsmart to check out some fishes they had. i saw some bristlenoses and neon tetras that seemed pretty cheap so i decided to buy some. the employee was not only rude, but squashed my fish many times with the net. adding insult to injury, she can't even tie the bag right with the rubberband. right when i got in my car, the rubber band came off and water spilled everywhere:swear::swear: why cant petsmart get decent employees that actually know what they r doing??

Understand how u feel. If that happened to me, I would have complained to the manager, demand a full refund and a public apology by that staff

Come to petsmart in Cary north carolina, i'll get you fixed up the right way haha

seriously though, I wish across the board we'd get better pet care employees, most of the people at our store have at least some general knowledge, there are a couple that spew some bad info from time to time, but at least they're knowledgeable about some of the other small animals in the section.

I do my best to be as helpful and considerate as possible, as long as you don't ask me to catch black khuli loaches... haha

The pet smart where I go sometimes treat people like they know nothing about fish and ask questions like if you don't give the right answer they wont sell you the fish. I guess that could be good in some ways for some people, but I have eight tanks going right now and I know a bit about fish. I go there to buy fish not feel like I'm being interrogated by the high school fish police.

at the one petsmart i go to .... the men (boys)? working in the fish section are stupid... blowing (exhaling) into bags instead of using the oxygen (air?) levers petsmart has installed.. which they tell me is connected to an air compressor not pure oxygen... i told them to please use the oxygen and they said "pure oxygen kills fish". what a muppet. i'm sure the keep away from flame or cigarettes warning on the outside of the bags they put the fish in, isn't to warn people of the flamability of one's carbon dioxide breath.

when i got home i called the manager of the store and told her that story, she said she would have a talk with them

over all i hate petsmart, i'd say 1/4 the fish i get from there don't last a month, probably due to how rough they are bagging them and not using oxygen to bag them. the only time i had a pleasant experience is when the MANAGER named Lee bagged my fish. she was really gentle and good

olympia has like no fish stores left, that i'm aware of.. it's either petsmart, petco (hell no their tanks are terrible), or a 40 minute drive to lakewood or tacoma and i don't have a car.

the thing i found hilarious is they cant tie the bag my walmart can tie the bag just fine but yea id do a complaint on them..they need to do a decent interview over the employees..

When I went to America, I went to a a Louisiana and a little girl and her dad bought a 5'' Pacu or their 55g. I was astonished to see how careless some people are.

we have the petsmart problem in my area too. instead of asking info about someone's tank (which I really like since it shows they give a damn) they just sell a fish to anyone.

Saw an oscar going to a 5 gallon the other day and 12 fantails with 6 jewel cichlids going to a 10 gallon (wonder how that will turn out).

I bought some convicts and asked for a male and a female, but she told me they cannot be sexed.

I was also told on another occasion that I could get away with having an ID shark in a 55 gallon for life even though it says a 75 gallon on the list. But bigger is better for the fish. I walked out at that point....

another thing that sucks about the Lacey, WA petsmart is they feed the wrong stuff to the fish. they put those 'weekend feeders' made of calcium sulfate in like every tank, especially the pleco tanks, and out of three common plecos i bought only one has lived (about 4-5 months) the other two died soon after i got them, they had piss-poor appetite for veggies. even though they have a 14 day guarantee on their fish it's stupid to expend that much gas and my mother's time on a replacement $2 fish... gets old after a while.
