I have a planted tank with a C02 reactor and controlled that is timed only for 1 hour before lights are on and stops at before lights out. The bubbler then turns on and degasses the C02. The PH sits at around 7.5-7.7 in the morning and the controller slowly reduces it to 7.0-7.1 during the day.

I was wondering if this daily PH swing is bad for the plant or fish. It’s a 300 gallon tank.

First, I have to say that it is a beautiful tank! I love the driftwood in there; it has such detail, and everything else looks great!

Regarding your question, I would leave it alone if your plants and stock aren't suffering (I can't tell if you have any stock there).

Thanks, that’s what I like about it is there is plenty in there but they all have somewhere to hide. Everything is small and will grow with the tank. 2 fire eels, 1 tiger moray, 4 Orange head geophagus, 4 yellow eel tails and about 10 clown loaches.
Fire eels are tiny like 100mm and the tiger moray is 200mm.

In nature pH vatiations between day and night are normal.
Duing the day in heavily vegetated areas , as plants use up CO2, pH rises.
At night when plants switch use to oxygen pH drops.
Thanks duanes I didn’t know that there was adaptions in nature. I always read about avoiding fluctuations especially for plants. The rocks in the tank are local creek boulders and increase the GH & KH but that’s a good thing for my half desalinated water that is very soft.
