Have had this guy for a while now and have rescued him/her numerous times from ornaments and driftwood and become affectionately named Lil dummy. As he was begging for his algae wafer I realized how big he/she has become, obviously this pleco had never realized it's own size, and took a pic. Don't know much about plecos, trying my best to learn. It is because of this forum I am starting to appreciate these species. In the last week I purchased a pineapple pleco and 2 three beacon plecos, also have a golden pleco. Sorry to the pleco experts I haven't yet learned the L numbers, but I'm sure I will. I am under the impression this pleco will grow to a max of 1'6". Am I correct?

Yes on average they get 18" but they have been known to get bigger if given the right conditions.
 
I have an albino bristlenose pleco, recently acquired and i just love it. I'm not an expert on them either but I think he will get a little bigger. i read somewhere that they are slow growers not sure if its true or not.. My other pleco is huge I haven't measured him but hes the biggest one I've ever owned.
 
I have the same species as the OP only not albino. They're really a great species to keep, just not with other plecos unless you have a gigantic tank. Mine is about 4" now and has been fighting finrot but seems to be better now. By the way, the L number is L165 if you were wondering, some call them L083 as well,

Those are some gorgeous plecos, I think I like them better than my albino one. My albino is very passive and gets out of the way when the loaches approach probably smarter than I give him credit for.
 
L165 and L083? Why two different numbers? As if this L number business isn't confusing enough. I have now decided I will probably not ever learn the L's. But I will try. Thanks for the info and pics

I call them L165 but most people call them L083, although either are correct. There are a few plecos that have 3 or 4 different L numbers! I'm trying now to learn them, I'm actually making a list on Excel of every L-number and its corresponding scientific and common name. I'm up to L125 now and started Friday night!
