Here are some good pics i took tonight after i painted the background. turned out really nice and i am so happy with it. I cannot believe what a difference it makes in th coloration of my fish, just waiting on the sand now. (had shipping problems)

Great pics. Is that black paint or deep blue or is the blue from the lighting? How do your frontosa take to being moved around? Do they sulk as much as SA cichlids?

black sand would look badass in that
im so jealous i want a planted tank so bad hah

it is a 50/50 mix of flat black latex and valspar twilight purple. Then I added a tad more twilight purple in till i got the blue/black look i was shooting for. So its a blue/black.

I have a double light strip with the front bulbs normal 25 v aquarium lights (glass aquarium brand) and the back bulb i intstalled a marine glow bulb. I tried both bulbs marine glow but didnt like the soldid blue effect. the fish loved it but i didnt.

The fronts took to it just fine, they did not sulk at all but as you can see in the pics they are all still small and i did move them in the past, from growout tank, to sixfoot tank, then to the 7foot tank.. No they dont sulk as much as the south americans, but mine in general when i used to keep them didnt sulk too bad for me. I think it helps then not to sulk if you have more than one tank to occationally move them around . So its not a shock anymore and it is usually easier to put in new fish since fish are always coming and going etc...

I have a fancy goldfish in the tank right now, he seems to be healthy and disease free so i put him in there to clean the tank. He even ate the other fishes poo. couldnt believe it. Fronts ignore him and he ignores the fronts. VORACOUS EATER. 30 MINUTES AND THE ENTIRE 7 FOOT TANK WAS SPOTLESS !! I just have to get past my goldfish prejudice.

are the plants growing down? It looks great!!!!

Dont laugh but those are fake plants for aquatic turtle tanks. I got them for 6.95 each and its two of them zip tied togeher and suctioncupped to the glass canopy. Glad you like them. They are actually approx 18-24 inches long when not stirred up by the filter being right next to them. In my 135 they stuck out the top of the tank. You can place them like i did or you can anchor them behind a rock or cave and have them appear to grow upwards. I lilke them for tall tanks.
