Is there a type of pike cichlid that is good for a 40 gallon tank. I think dwarf pikes are cool but they are pretty small and I was wondering if there was another pike that could be in a 40 breeder. So what would be a type of pike for a 40 breeder.

Could try looking at a proteus pike cichlid.

I kept a small group of 4 C. minuano in a 40 breeder for more than 3 years, until 1 snapped and I had to separate and rehome them.

Crenicichla regani, likes to lurk and very personable, also territorial and mine liked a cave. They have big mouths so no small fish, if you don’t know if it’s big enough, don’t try as the fish may eat half of it if it’s just a little too big. You might be able to squeeze in an angel or 2 if the tank is planted.
