I've been seriously considering getting a Rhom or a Cariba piranha.. my worry is my PH is really high like 8.2-8.6 and very hard water. Obviously I do lots of water changes but even then as we know some soft water fish will still develop diseases.

Is this putting my fish at risk for HITH and other diseases? Am I playing with fire?

Local had largest black P in the Province, this was posted on a local forum years ago. His Rhom was 15” in this old pic. Local water is PH 7.8 - 8.2 year round, with high alkalinity. Tap water treated with chloramine. He used tap water, via a drip and dosed with Cloram-X, same as Seachem Safe.
