hi
i have 2 red bellied piranhas, and i noticed one of them has a cloudy looking eye. i am not sure when it started, or how long it's been like that.
does anyone have any ideas what it could be, or any advice on how to treat it?
thanks in advance

If it is just one eye in one fish and you do not see a small whitish object in the eye then it is not toxins such as ammonia or copper, and it is not an eye fluke. If the cloudiness is not a cottony coating on the out side surface of the eye it is not Saprogenlia fungus. If it is not a slightly raised glistening film over the eye surface it is not costia or other protozoals.
That leaves a gram-negative bacterial infection, usual from a scratch on the eye. Try isolating the fish in a tank with only mechanical filtration (the meds kill filter bacteria) and treat with antibiotics, preferably a sulfur based one like TMP Sulfa or Gentamycin Sulfate. Both are usually sold as powders, follow the directions on the package. Should clear up within a few days if you caught it early enough.

Don't look bad at all. Maybe from the other piranhas. Some salt and clean water will help. If getting worse or other piranhas start picking on it then qt it.

Hey i could use some advice, noticed this morning my red belly had a wierd white thing in its eye, almost like a big C with one being big and it having a little tail, now most of his eye is clouded. im afraid its the eye fluke cause both of my snails died resently and i thought that may be the problem, please help!

Hard to say if that’s the cause but can add some prazipro and that should help if it’s flukes. Then retreat again for total of 2 rounds. Check ur water parameters as poor water quality can cause similar problems.
