I've always enjoyed the aquarium/terrarium aka paludarium but have never actually set one up but lately I have started to do research about setting one up and filtration system used.

After reading about the setting up I still want to hear about good plants to use in the water and especially those that does well only partially submerged. Also plants that enjoy humid surroundings as well as Orchids (one of my favourite flowers) that do well in Paludariums. What ferns and epiphytic plants. Can I grow white Arum lilies in a paludariums. I have seen them being planted straight into pond and looking great.
Any other ideas and tips welcome.

Quite a lot of plants can be grown emersed, indeed if buying them in vitro, this is how they are grown. As long as you can keep a very high humidity there's no reason the majority of aquarium plants you'll see sold by the likes of Tropica, can't do well in such a set-up :)

I've done small scale paludarium in the past... definitely a fun project but requires a lot of planning...

Especially with small leafy plants that may drop a lot of dead leaves into the water becoming a pain yo remove every so often...

Tropical orchids should be mounted in elevated sites like on branches(u can use liquid nails to attach them, and u should do the same with airplants),water arum does fine in paladarium as long as it has good light and sufficient space to grow. How big do u want to go? U can make a open top tank bigger(height wise) by making a frame out of wood and mesh(like the kind on screen doors)

I'm considering a Standard 5ft tank. I'm doing some moss on rocks with water flowing over it, but I will add some shelves to the background so I can do Air plants on that, our nursery is selling some for a reasonable price. I'll read yp some more on orchids before I decide to add some. As for animals I'm thinking maybe leopard geckos or chameleons. I want to add Celestial pearl Danios and Red Cherry shrimps and maybe some ottos not sure about the ottos yet.

Cool, personally I recommend crested geckos for that setup, leopard geckos don't like that much humidity and don't really swim. Orchids are relatively easy to care for if u most them once a day and keep their roots out of the soil.
Plants I recommend include African violet, pillow moss and edible mushrooms.

I will check out crested geckos, I was just considering leopard geckos because they are easier to find around here and their prices aren't too steep. What ever I get I would prefer geckos. I don't want to add something that could possibly snack on my fish.

As for pilliw moss I wi read up on them and see if I can source some.
Never thought about mushrooms interesting Idea

My mom has some African Violets, if I decide to add some I'll get some from her.
