Hi all, please do share your experience with regards to the topic above. My personal experience with plat bichirs is that they grow much slower compared to their non-leucistic counterparts. Mine's averaging less than 1cm every 2 weeks even after being fed twice a day on tubifex worms. (Could it be the diet? Who knows. It's still refusing the accept pellets.)

I have yet to encounter or experience the quite phenomenal growth rate documented in the thread below:

Growth rate will vary depending on many factors such as fish's appetite, genetics, diet, tank size, water quality, temp, etc. I've only had experience with platinum Senegal. The only reason I could see why my platinum didn't grow as fast was because it didn't have a huge appetite like it's non-leucistic counterpart.

Now i've got to Facebook ivestigate a local person near me now on his plat. Senegal and Endli. Lol.... his endli is about 11-12" now from 3-4". Believe both purchased between feb-may of this year.

Hao Hao interesting, would you go as far to conclude that there would be no difference in growth between a plat and non-plat if they had the same appetite, good water conditions etc?

That's about averages to an inch a month for the plat endli. Thanks Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 . Any idea what he feeds it, whether it's housed alone or in a comm, etc?

At that size. It still has the antenna gills out. It's housed alone due to being concerned that another poly may bite at it. I'm sure there are other concerns due to price. Guess he's careful with that one... Mainly hikari gold medium and cut fz tilapia. Recent pic below.

Had also got a Senegal. That one seems to be a very slow grower.

Now that brings up another point. Any idea what's with plat endlis and the relative delay with regards to their external gills disappearing as compared to non-plat endlis?

I’m no expert I would say that it’s most likely due to inbreeding or maybe their coloration causes them stress due to inability to blend in.

Try feeding small pieces of chopped fish (tilapia)

It would be fantastic if neoprodigy neoprodigy could shed some light on the growth of his plat endli with reference to the thread above.
