Hi everyone! :) I am new to this website and I just got a baby Nile Monitor.
It hasnt been eating its meal worms or pooping/peeing. what do I do!!!!!
(BTW, its tempature in the tank right now is around 80 degrees farenheit.
The temp. it needs to be at is 80-95 degrees. I hope you guys can help me
THanks!! :)

Up those temps for sure. Didn’t see one listed but what’s your basking temp at? The enclosure doesn’t sound hot enough for one of these lizards whatsoever. That’s usually the problem when they aren’t eating my tegu didn’t eat right away because I didn’t have a hot enough basking area for him. It’s most likely temps or you could have just gotten a imported animal that’s sick or has parasites if you get that heat up and he still isn’t eating it needs to go see a vet/start treatment ASAP. I have water monitors and tegus so they are fairly similar, Have you tried a live pinky mouse? Mine loved them as hatchlings but they can’t be a regular food source. Also some raw fish seems to be a favorite leave it in the cage for a couple hours and walk away when you come back it will be gone atleast it was for all of mine “my water monitor was captive bred and ate the very first day I got her. So I might not be the greatest help” Not sure if you’ve tried guy loaded crickets yet either but honestly mealworms and superworms are the last thing my animals go for they loved crickets at that size and feeder fish when I had them.

Let me know if you figure it out if not I’ll try to help you figure out a couple other things to try.
