My son got several new cichlids from local store, the owner wasn't sure on this particular species, the bottom one in the picture?

Agreed. Trade name is red empress. I could be a hybrid based on the more streamlined body shape, but it’s a little deconditioned atm & should thicken up with clean water and good food!
