I'm not sure if there's anything left to be done but if nothing else I'd like to learn going forward - maybe there is something I should have done differently. He's a 3 1/2 year old jd. I have him in a 90 gallon with a severum, frontosa, 2 clown loaches and 2 roselike sharks, along with 4 pictus cats. The severum has always been tank boss and it's a very peaceful tank. It gets cleaned every 3 weeks, 25% or so and the nitrates are around 20-50. PH 7.2 I'm pretty sure I've been overfeeding all along and I was keeping lights on 15 hours a day. Tons of beard algae, so probably too much poop and bacteria in the tank. About a month ago I noticed a little cloudiness on the jd tail and side, and a little fin rot. I let it go for a little bit and then I noticed he started getting a belly and sores on his side, along with a red anus. He was fine at that point, eating and acting normal. I did treat the tank with Melafix for several days but he just kept getting bigger and stopped eating. I pulled him out and gave him an epson bath for 10 minutes, but that did nothing. The local store said to quarantine him and told me what meds to try - he's been in a hospital tank since Tuesday. I treat him every day with Maracyn Oxy and every other day with Fritz Para Cleanse, based on the instructions, with a water change every other day, but he's getting worse and worse.
I was actually researching clove oil and how to do it when he practically jumped out of the tank and took a spin around, so I thought I'd reach out to this community for any last ditch efforts? Thanks!
(Also, based on everything I thought it was bacterial based on my research but please let me know your thoughts!)
