Very nice centerpiece...How will you get it ready for the tank?
Good Question. I was going to take it outside and scrub the **** out of it, then put it in and weigh it down as needed.

I was thinking about a large,
single piece of bog-wood for my next project, as well.

I was thinking of soaking it in a kiddie-pool, and pressure washing it. Maybe take some parameters to see what kind of leeching it was doing...

Do you know if it was in fresh or salt water?

Good Idea I might check out a kiddie pool to for the job too.

It came from near a freshwater dam but it wasn't submersed, just near the dam.

It's probably bog-wood (fresh-water soaked) then.
I've had problems with drift-wood (salt water soaked)before, but you should be fine after you get it to sink.
You'd be suprized at the amount of weight it takes to keep that big of log to stay down.

Yeah could be.

And I think you'd be surprised at how heavy it is min 2 people to lift it it's about 6ft long and has a 2 ft fork one end.

That's a really nice piece of wood. In my mind's eye, I can see a group of three Java ferns anchored to it at the fork. Please keep the pics coming.
