Hi everyone, I have a female polar blue cichlid and a male flowerhorn. The polar blue is laying eggs almost every week and the flowerhorn guards them. Is it possible for them to have offspring? I’m accepting all responses. Thank you!
I have not seen him fertilize, just guard.Did you see him fertilizing the eggs? I've seen a few BP x FH spawns and Fh x convict cichlid spawns ,I would assume it's pretty similar with polar blue parrots/short-body convicts.
Yeah maybe. Do you think any blood parrot traits would show? Since polar blues are part parrot?I would just expect to see a lower quality FH with convict stripes or a convict with some pearling and added color. Like these pics I got from Google. Granted you'd also have a mix of normal/long bodies and short bodies.

Polar parrots are just honduran red points (close cousin to the convict cichlid) with the short body gene. They may have parrot in the name but it's only referencing the body style, there is no BP genes in a polar parrot. It's a common misconception. So no ya won't have any BP traits show at all.Yeah maybe. Do you think any blood parrot traits would show?
Ikr, they do look nicer that way imo. Just adds a bit of flare to an otherwise dull fish. Used to love convicts and still do somewhat but probably won't ever own one again. If I want a tiny fish with a ton of attitude, there are plenty of better looking options imo.Polar parrots are actually just short body convicts. No parrot in them.
Any parrot blood would come from the fh.
Only thing would be some orange coloration from the original Midas in the fh.
Honestly those convict fh look really nice. They lookjust like a convict but if the orange was replaced with red.
Yeah it's a common thing for ppl to call em that. It's basically just a coin term that was originally started to make more $ since convicts and hrp's tend to be extremely cheap and breed like crazy to the point of where ya almost have to give em away.Interesting, I ordered mine online but the breeder said it was a convict parrot hybrid. He called it a polar blue.
