How big does Palmas Polli grow in captivity? And also do they turn greenish through age?

it depends on the individual. i have one that was 5 inches and showed alot of green. now he is 8 inches. i have another one at 6-7 inches and also showing alot of green. the type and color of substrate helps too. if you have a black sand/gravel substrate, the green will pop out alot more

hmmm, well its not recommended since it probably wont reach its full potential, but if you do your weekly water changes, have a strong filtration, and feed it a variety of nutritious food (tilapia, smelt etc.) then it shouldnt be a problem. but for all upper-jaw bichirs, a 4x2x2 or more is recommended.

if the palmas polli is the only bichir in a 55, then maybe it would be fine for life. but i strongly recommend you upgrade now or in the future.

hey m4ttsyke do you know if synodontis flavitaeniata is compatible with senegal bichir? i've decided against a palmas polli because it'll probably outgrow my 55 and i have no plans on upgrades

nvrmind, i think i read it wrong... it was 6 inches in the wild and 3 inches max in captivity so i don't wanna risk it with a bichir... seems like an expensive fish as well

honestly, for a 55g if you want to keep a bichir for life, a senegal or delhezi would be perfect.

are you serious? delhezi??? i always thought that would grow too big! isn't it like... 14 inches?
