Polypterus teugelsi growth rate?

Hello everyone
I just got my first Polypterus teugelsi, hes about 2" at the moment. Because of his size, he cant go to the big Polys. Im wondering what the growth rate of this species is? And how big should he be not to get eaten by my 16" weeksi?

me also bought 4inch teug last week ...anyway right now he is eating well..i think after 3 months, he can join with big boys
 
the growth rate on my teug was more than most. I got her at 3" and she grew 1" a week for the 1st 8 weeks then slowed down to 1/2" a month most people usually see 1-2" a month till they reach 12"

It's reallistic for a farm raised Teugelsi to reach 12-14" their first year. I grew out my old one from a skinny 2" to 13" before the 1 year mark.

Teug may never hit the same girth as a weeksii but I'd guess 8-10" would be more then big enough. It also depends on your weeksii. Is he in with fish ? Does he show agression at all? If he's the only fish in the tank it may be an issue. Deffinatly check out the growth thread mine was a slow grower until about 6 month mark then he bulked up and grew about 4" in about 2 months. Seems to be tapering off again which is good as he is now one of the larger polys in the tank.

post a pic. Maybe we can tell you if its wc or cb.

Wc teugs get large. While cb dont get to those monsterous sizes.

That’s true. I totally forgot how slender teugs can be! Especially compared to the “fat heads.” Heh.
How big is Lucifer now?
 
He's the 3rd largest poly in the tank now. Ziti is first at about 14" then Udon12-13" and Lucifer just about 12", he's thin though so both of my del boys look larger until he's next to them and you realize he's 2" longer then the larger one.
