Just wanted to post some pics up of my 100 gallon'ish preformed pond I have out in front of my house.
A close up of the lilly plant I have that has sprouted 2 leaves so far that have broken the surface. But raccoons are getting into it going after fish they can't get too...they have broken off most of the sprouts...
I have 3-4 comet feeders in there right now, with a dojo loach that I haven't seen for days...and probably a few dozen trapdoor snails - no big ones, again due to raccoon poaching.
I have made a brick cave underwater to give the fish a safe haven from predators but the plants don't fair as well. Filtration is ONE air pump running undergravel filter plates and simple uptubes. This has worked out very well and it makes the pond feel and sound like a natural spring.
I have a dream pond build too and it also would be air filtered. Think 10x15x3 with eggcrate undergravel filter covered by lava rock with 1.5" uplifters and a luft pump for air power-simple and proven-perfect for raccoon protection!
