Prehistoric aquatic reptile...

This reptile just came up in my oceanography class, I thought they were pretty neat, so I thought I would share. It's a mesosaurus, which would be awesome to keep in very large tanks as they reach almost 3 and a half feet, but unfortunatly they went extinct over 200 million years ago.:( Surprisingly, those teeth were used to filter feed, instead of catch prey.

That mouth is not for predatory purposes? It's a filter feeder??? It looks cool but it's just a big wimp lol!
you have no idea how dissapointed i was when i read that myself

Funny....I , too, am taking Oceanography...I just read about how the Mesosaurus helped support Alfred Wegener's theory on Continental drift...
