Hi guys. Well i am cycling my 55 gallon and heard that stress coat + nuetralizes nitrites and won't let an aquarium cycle, is it true? I just got back from petco with both bottles and don't know which one to use. Which one would you reccomend? Which one is better to cycle a aquarium with? Thanks in advance!

Prime is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels.Prime also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime™ is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime™ will not overactivate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water.

Stress Coat forms a synthetic slime coating on the skin of fish, replacing the natural secretion of slime that is lost during netting, handling, shipping, fighting and other forms of stress. Stress Coat is a patented water conditioner suitable for fresh and salt water aquariums, water gardens and ponds. Stress Coat contains Aloe Vera, which acts as a liquid bandage, to protect and heal damaged fish tissue. Stress Coat instantly removes chlorine and heavy metals such as copper and zinc from tap water. Stress Coat also removes chloramines by breaking the chlorine-ammonia bond.
The effectiveness of Stress Coat with Aloe Vera has been proven by independent studies conducted at the University of Georgia, School of Veterinary Medicine. Researchers found that Stress Coat helped heal wounds and speed tissue regrowth. Dr John Gratzek summarizes the results: "Personally, I am satisfied with the results since my initial thoughts were skeptical to say the least. These definite statements can be made without equivocation: Stress Coat in no way harms aquarium fish, alters pH, or affects the biological filter. No ammonia or nitrite was detected in the test aquariums. The results indicated that the Stress Coat formula reduced the wound size compared to untreated fish tissue." Aloe Vera is high in mucopolysaccharides, an essential component of many tissues and believed to help in the healing process. The glycoproteins Aloctin A and Aloctin B are also present and identified as the probable tissue-healers.

Based on all that...I would use Prime :D

But what i would like to know is if stress coat will affect the cycling. And how do you guys fell about seachem stability? Does it work? Thanks for the comments.

I've used Prime and Stablity with EXCELENT results and not fish loss.
+1 My experience exactly.

Stability has worked very well for me. It also helps for mini cycles a great product to have on hand IMO.

As far as stress coat and cycling. .

The stress coat+ binds ammonia for a day or two rendering it non toxic and the bio filter supposedly still has to remove it. I cycled with prime and had no issues.

Anybody know if Stress Coat will affect the cycling process at all? Stop it?

Thanks a lot! I will use prime and after it ends i will use stress coat. How long did it take to cycle with stability?

In one instance I never saw ammonia in the other two experiences on brand new tanks 3-4 days. I don't know why you would want to switch back to stress coat personally. Prime is more economical last time I researched and is a superior product in my experience.
