PVC overflow weir problems.

I've just finished building a PVC overflow system for my 400 gallon tank (tempered glass, can't be drilled) but I've run into an issue where if I just have the valve fully opened, it empties the internal weir (90mm pvc pipe with one end capped and a mesh vent over as the weir 'teeth') which causes it to float up, cutting off the waterflow and breaking the siphon.

I'm struggling to fine tune the pump/valve to get the perfect in/our flow, with water levels in the sump flucuating to the point that I'm not comfortable leaving it unsupervised.

My only issue has been with the weir getting drained, no actual problems with the siphon start or overall flow through the pipes.

Drain pipe is 40mm PVC, output is 25mm being fed by a great white return pump with a maximum flow rate of 8,000 LPH.
