I've owned a few African tiger fish before. They have all red tails or just red at the bottom. I just bought a new one...his tail wasn't red when I first got home but when I took him home and put him in the tank whitin an hour his tail was a beautiful red. Now it's colorless....any reason why this is happening??? Thanks guys :)

Stressed.
Did it in it own tank or with some tank mate that bullying the AFT? What's your tank setup and water parameter? and how big since you said you kept them before and how long those previous AFT last in your care?

He's in a 120 gal all by himself. I keep them to they are about 10 inches or so then I sell them. They are cool fish too have but I can't handle them if they were to be full grown

Sounds like he's uncomfortable for some reason. Is it a bare tank? How's the water check?

If your water checks out ok maybe he just needs some time to settle in. Perhaps add a few non threatening tankmates to make him feel more comfortable.

Ok good idea. I only had him for a week so that's possible. Thanks for the advice
