I currently have a Hygger that's fairly loud. I used to use Tetra Whispers, but they never lasted more than a year before becoming loud. Any suggestions for a 90g tank?

Honestly, I've gone through just about every brand I can think of over the course of my betta breeding days, since I often had 30+ tanks running on sponge filters. Tetra Whispers ARE the quietest by quite a lot.

I often wrap mine in an old rag which does a good job of muffling any sound to a non-annoying level.

I've only used Whisper air pumps for many moons but I muffle the sound similar to Sinister-Kisses Sinister-Kisses but place on foam.

Yes, of course. I'm not tightly swaddling them ;) Most of the time, just folding a rag and putting it underneath the pump will work, but I've had a few that didn't quiet down enough that way so I've just unfolded the rag it was sitting on, sat the pump back down on the bottom half of the rag and then just flopped the other half of the rag lightly over top of the pump.

The aquarium coop air pump is virtually silent. Has a battery back up mode, in case you loose power, it will remain on for up to 12 hours. You definitely cannot beat the price of $24 for single outlet and $30 for dual outlet (to be released, next month I believe.) The warranty and customer service can’t be beat.
