ive had a pack of triop eggs and ive tried to raise them like 4 times but the always die in the end so i was wondering what can you feed them, minimum tank size, and do you need a header and would a sponge filter work?thank you in acvance!

They are supposed to die in the end, duh! They only lived to 7 to 9 weeks.

you just need to add sand to the triops tank. they lay eggs into sand then when the water become dried up, leave the sand become dried for few months then add water to the sand and you will get some baby triops.

dont use sponge filter as it could suck triops into. just a 10gal tank. they eat everything but triops pellets and fish flakes could work out. Dont need any heater since they live in really shallow ponds.

Didnt you read everything on triops kits? They have manual book inside the kit.

ok i know they die in a few weeks but i think they should live longer then 3 days.....and i didnt get the kit i only got the eggs from a friend

ive never gotten mine to catch. i read they only hatch in pristine distilled water at exactly 72 degrees. but ive tried that twice before and its never worked. i think my eggs arent viable

My triops hatched, they grew pretty big but I thought they would get along with my black skirt tetras. (got munched) They got caught on the filter when I saved the last couple in a ten gallon. Don't got anymore though.

oops?

Try putting the triops under direct lighting, like a incandescent light bulb. You do not need a filter or a heater. depending on where u live, tap water is fine, but just to be safe, use distilled water, do not use mineral water. The bigger ur tank, the lesser the chance of cannibalism. Feed them crushed fish flakes or pellets after about 2 days of hatching. If u want them to naturally spread their eggs, u can use sand but the triops will end up eating a majority of the eggs. Better if u remove the egg sacks manually when the eggs, they will regrow the egg sacks so dont need to worry.

ok 2 days ago i set up a 1 gallon aquarium no ar pump(yet)no filter(yet)and used bottled spring water and the temp is at 76 degrees farenheighth is this good?

I guess thats good for right now, so good luck.

Gar Man at least like a 5 g and if you have sand (no filtration then, just weekly WC) they will spawn. They're pretty pissy so if one gets sick it is immediatly killed and eaten. Triops are actually a type of Shrimp, AKA Shield or Tadpole Shrimp. Australian Blue Triops occasionally reach 8'', but they are rare in the trade. Max. life span is about 90 days.
