Ok, so I know this tank needs a whole lot more. (Especially I lid)

I definitely need to add more gravel and deco, and Both my goldfish are about 4 to 5 years old. I rescued them from Walmart back in 2018. They were dying in the bottom of a betta cup, that was less then half way full.

One is 4 inches, the other is a wopping 6 Inches! And they are currently in a 30 Gallon aquarium.

The tank is running on a Tetra 30 gal canister filter. I really want to add something else to the tank. But I can't really think of a good cold water tank mate.

But what would you guys rate my setup, and what could I improve?

(Also where can I find a good lid that isn't $60?)

Welcome aboard
I suggest you cover the under gravel filter plate completely with gravel. If you're not using the under gravel filter I would remove it.
I am not using it. So I'll just remove it.

I thought it looked kind of neat, but now I can see it's just an eyesore

Those goldfish will eventually outgrow that tank and you’ll need to upgrade. As for tankmates, white cloud minnows, rosy barbs, cherry barbs, zebra or giant danio, Ricefish, and of course weather loaches (also called dojo loaches) will all do well in cooler water.

Yes. I'm definitely planning on upgrading to a 55 when they get bigger. It will probably be a couple of years yet until I'll need to though

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm very much considering weather loaches now. I'm worried if I put smaller fish in the tank, the goldfish might try to eat of accidentally injure them (the goldfish have pretty big mouths
