Just wanted to show off my mbuna 125, and maybe spark some ideas for other fish keepers getting into African rift lake setups. I just added 4 new mbuna, so I did another rescape today. The look I'm going for is a part of lake Malawi I saw in a video that had fallen logs, driftwood, a few plants, and of course cracks and crevices for the mbuna to hide. I'm pretty happy with it, even so, the hardscape is still constantly evolving every month or so. During deeper cleanings, I remove the rocks from one side of the tank only and re-arrange. I did my best to adhere to the rule of thirds, and make everything look as natural as possible. The fish love it! They have tunneled between and under most of the rocks and logs.
Ps im monitoring the three peacocks as the mbuna mature. If the mbuna start to stress out the peacocks, I will put them in another tank. So far my experiment having the two together has been good. No stress, and no fin nipping. Hiding places are key.
