Hi.
I am new to the hobby and wanting to buy some medication to be prepared for any outbreak. I have two Pleco but looking at buying Tetras to add to the tank. What are some safe medications for my Plecos to fight parasites and bacteria?

If one of my plecos/cichlids gets sick it put him/her into a quarantine tank by them selves and use API melafix it cures bacterial infections like fin rot, pop eye, cloudy eyes etc... I also found that it cures open wounds quite well in the past, not to sure if it's any good for parasites, but I always have it at hand it's great stuff, has saved loads of my fish down the years, it is a little on the pricey side though

Would suggest prazipro, paragaurd and maracyn2. This three will work well for ur pleco in case it gets infected with something.

I don’t melafix or pimafix. It’s been posted prior that these don’t treat infections. It can help in clean wounds (not infected) that’s about it.

The best thing is to prevent infections with proper quarantine for fish and plants. Probably minimum 1-2 months (what u prefer). Also keep ur tank cycled and with appropriate water changes to keep nitrates below 50. Then no abx needed.
