Hi,just got a red aro yesterday. He is around 38 cm any advice on when I should start tanning and how long to leave the tanning light on?

when your red aro already fierce at eating, you can start tanning 3 hours and observe its behaviour and appettite. slowly increase the tanning time to 10 hours or more. what type of tanning light do you use?
mayin is good light brand for tanning. it has high uva and uvb which is good for pigment development. drawbacks, you will need to clean aquarium more often due to algae.
for temperature, try to keep on cooler side (27-28C). I would recommend to add aquarium fan to make it cooler as the tanning light will make aquarium warmer
