I want to get either a red belly piranha or a black piranha, i am very new to finish so i need some help with this.

Out of the two which do you think would be the more vicious and agressive species? Also how large of a tank do i need for either? Can i have a few red belly and a few black piranhas in the same tank? Are there any fish that can be put together with either of the two species?

Any help is apreciated, thank you.

i would do neither and try to get a piraya piranha, IMO
but if your set on one of those two, then definately black.

you can not keep blacks with any other piranha's not even it's own kind, but you can keep a school of red belly's. A 120 gallon would house one black for life, or multiple red belly's.

just my 0.2 cents

If you are wanting aggressive or vicious fish piranha are not a very good choice. They are very fearful creatures and startle easily especially the red belly ones. If you want something that is going to bang the glass in a menacing way (and not out of fear) you should look into cichlids.

what chichild would you say is the most agressive?

piranhas can be skittish mainly only reds tho. a single black p is very agressve and territoral u cant put anything in with it or its food, the rhom may not kill it right away but if he gets hungry the fish that ist with is dinner even if its twice the rhoms sie trust me i learned the hard way

When you say aggressive do you mean to other fish or people around their tank ect?
I used to keep 3 red bellies in a 55 and they would destroy any other fish put in their tank.
They were however scared to death whenever someone walked past the tank or when you put your hand in the tank to do water changes ect.
The opposite of that was a Red Devil i had for about 10 years.
He was about 14" and he would bang the glass and "attack" anyone walking past his tank (including my german shepherds) And when doing water changes on his tank it was not a matter of IF you were going to get bit it was a question of HOW MANY TIMES am I going to get bit THIS TIME. lol
hope this helps
Eric
