Can't tell, so help me. And around 2.5 - 3 inches. Alone in 55 gallon

Been feeding feeder fish and ik it's bad, but he won't come up to eat bloodworms or shrimp, so I have only that option for him to eat or chase. Bought at petsmart, the flowerhorn with biggest lol I ever seen at petsmart but I notice since it got home since 3-4 weeks ago, kok seems to not improving or got smaller.

And make or female, what kind of flowerhorn?

Looks like a little male
They are not picky eaters so just starve him for a few days and offer pellets

Why is it not swimming at the top of the tank? It been 3 weeks and it live with a smaller kamfa male and that male is more active.

So this morning I moved the kamfa flowerhorn in a small 5 gallon bucket for a few days to see if it will improve.

I can't see how that's going to improve it's color / "kok". If it's new to the aquarium and sees the kamfa as a more dominant fish it will be shy. If he's shy and you want to see him come out you need to get it in its own aquarium.... not a bucket. The fish looks like it has potential. Just give it time, feed it a good varied diet, and keep the water pristine. My male I bought took 2 weeks for it to even come out and swim in front of me. It spent 2 weeks just hiding under the hob filter in its aquarium. I've had him for a little over a month now and I can't put my hand in the aquarium without him biting it lol. Give it time.

I took the kamfa out because it's the more dominant one since this morning, now I noticed it move a little bit more around the tank, so it's probably cause of the kamfa and I'm surprise they doesn't fight and they're both males for sure.

One question, nice flowerhorn and impressive kok, what size is that, how old and what did you do to get it kok that big for that size?

Same one. Pictures are less than a month apart. His head started growing once he stopped being shy. He's between 5-6" now. Picture is a little over a week old. In the original pic he's around 3" in the second pic it's around 5". He's growing like a weed. Just keep up on feedings and keep his water clean. I also noticed a difference when I raised his water temp from The upper 70s to the lower and mid 80s.
