Red garnet sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo

Thats what was being talked about several threads down on this page and interesting update by Fleshy on 60 day shipping from his source

Call all your local sandblasting / abrasive warehouse. I only know of one Chain store that’s north of you near the Bay Area - Kleen Blast Abrasives.

This is the cheap 36 grit from zoro that ships in a day for free. This stuff is like basically. A dollar a pound

So zoro.com says you need to spend $75 for free shipment. Unless I'm reading it wrong for the 36 grit.

From that site, my preference would be the 12-20 mesh size (1lb is roughly 1inch/gallon in a tank). Pool filter sand is generally 20 mesh size

Possibly that is the case I did not face that dilemma as I purchased two boxes/bags/cases

FYI, I had the same line of thinking when I was looking for garnet sand, i wanted a larger grain size than the 36 grit, which I had ordered previously. I ordered the 16 grit and was disappointed to find that it looked very different than the 36 grit. 36 was nice and "garnet" colored, just like C. Breeze's pictures above. The 16 is brownish, with little or no red/purple color. From the Zoro source, at least, you need the 36 mesh to get the nice color.
