Hello Everyone,

I have a 5x2x2 plus a 2x2 sump , I have a Jaguar and an Oscar in there with a couple of common bristlenoses.

Is possible to add a RTC in there? saw one of these at the shops and i just had to have one but wasnt too sure how it would do in the tank.

Any ever kept a RTC with oscars and jags?

Thanks in advance :)

no. no. no.

Yeah they grow to fast. But if you want one, make sure it is smaller than the other tankmates. Or else they become food. They are extremely active at night. ALWAYS looking for food.

WAY too small. This fish can grow to the length of your tank in the wild, and at least four feet in captivity. He would be a sad, sad fish. If you are truly interested in keeping red tails, because mine is the most wonderful fish in the world, I have to say, check out the indoor pond section (unless you're incredibly rich.. Then build a 1000+ gallon tank). They are a truly worthwhile fish to keep, but only if you're prepared. Don't be another horror story!

this is what you want to put in your 5ft tank. as you can see from my hand its bloody huge and this one is stunted due to someone like yourself wanting one in a 5ft tank not realising its a huge fish needing a pond.

really bad idea. rtc's can be kept in tanks for while, but will eventually outgrow them and need a pond. ive seen some MASSIVE cats-well over 4 feet at the Gatlinburg Ripleys aquarium... they were monsters.

i still am at loss why people continue to sell RTCs when so many people don't have the appropriate space for it...

when people talk about RTC i get sad cause at my local pet shop they have two and a shovelnose all in a small little 20G there like 4-5" long:(
