They look amazing... What species did they use to make it and how hard is it to find one like this picture? Also what's the current price... (this one went for $300 a few years ago)

One like in that picture is one in a million. It takes generations of line breeding to create Red Texas and the only thing I know for certain is used in the process is Carpintis. I've heard that Red Devil, Blood Parrots, or King Kong Parrots are the other part of the equation but who knows for certain.

red tex like that can take a very long time. you would need many many tanks to do it correctly. breeding carpintis with kkp seems to be the best way. youd have to grow out past the peel and sort through the best looking rt. then repair those rt with kkp over n over. the carpintis pearling and pattern isnt the problem its reline breeding trying to capture the red wich is not easy and has nothing to do with math. ?+?= never the same. ive had 7 tanks dedicated to rt for the past 3 years and ive yet to come up with a growout that is even close to those 1 in a million grade A+ looking fish. to be honest 300 for a red texes with that pearling and that deep of red i would consider a good deal if thats a fish you are truly looking for. breeding ebjd is 20 times easier than breeding that quality of red texas. just my opinion and ive only been trying rt breeding for 3 years. im sure theres a few members here that know more about red tex than myself. i give props for there time and effort.

Well I have seen better Red Texas for bid on here but here's a current one

Looks as far as whats better visually is in the eye of the beholder, some like Festaes and some like RT. But if you take the RARITY and how hard it is to make one then Red Texas will rule over all.
I prefer rarity of a fish that's naturally occurring, but that's me. Getting rare naturally occurring species out in to the hobby is much more beneficial IMO!

Can someone get me one of these?! :nilly:
