This is an interesting catfish I’ve been interested in hunting down if anyone is aware of where to get one. I’ve searched on here and maybe it has a different name but I’ve been unable to find it other than a few posts on Reddit. It is possible that the reddit poster is active here but I have no clue. Here is the catfish in question2E442B73-7BEF-4E24-AACE-1D8960207D29.jpeg57D8CA49-F079-4E12-B490-5FF024FBCF49.jpeg

That might be a red tail catfish niger catfish hybrid. I don't think it is possible to hybridize fish from two different countries.

Maybe not niger catfish as they are from Africa, but another SA cat? This is definitely some sort of hybrid afaik
Niger catfish are from South America, they are also known as Oxydoras Niger or Ripsaw catfish.

Here's another Redtail X Pangasius cross. South American X Asian. Not mine...

There def. out there from time to time over the yrs... there really not a “viable” hybrid tho. Don’t make it much longer past 18-20” if that. This mix is known for being hard to keep alive much like the tsnxniger. They are in fact paroonxrtc, lots of things are possible with man made hybrids, but some just don’t mix well in the end. Most catfish hybrids are made/produced for food consumption so they want fish that grow quick with alot of yeild/meat lol... we just get their scraps in the fish trade ?. Cool looking hybrid i agree, and honestly not a bad one to keep if u dont have lots of space because its demise is eminent genetically ? ??‍♂️... just how it goes with this one

As Russ says, this is not a viable fish.

Some MFK examples:

There is a thread I remember where the rare adults are shown, not too old, within 1-2 years ago, but I can't find it.
