Anyone have good/bad things to say about it?

I am going to use it on my 3/4 filled turtle tank.
any suggestions and ideas you can give me?

I like them, cheap and reliable. The media needs upgraded though so to do that it'll cost ya another 20 bucks if your using for fish. For the turtle only I would just fill it with all foam and clean every couple weeks.

How you set up a canister...the hose run length...distance below the tank...number and types of valves... the type of media selected...all have a LARGE impact on the flow rate.

If you're going to use on a turtle tank, put a piece of filter sponge over the intake to prevent the large pieces of poop from fouling the filter too quickly. You'll probably have to rinse out the sponge every other day or so, but you won't have to do maintenance on your filter that often.

what i didn't need bio media? i just ordered $45 worth of them...

hey wolf; what is the "hose run length"?

yeah thanks nolapete, wolf3101 already told me about the sponge filter.
will the GPH get reduced if I put a sponge over the intake?

yes it will restrict the flow a bit...
The length of the hoses and thier path.
They should be as short and direct as possible. Any turns..bends...ect. slow down the flow rate a bit.

oh o.k. thanks wolf.
i was about to say; the bend in the top part(when going over the tank) is an exception right?
but then I noticed that the flexible tubing doesn't even go over the tank..some hard pre-formed plastic one goes over it...

hey also one of my friends was telling me that it might be a stupid idea to get a filter rated for 175gallons when I only have like 30gallons of water..
i told him that it's not bad to over-filter the tank but then he said that the flow from the spray bar is probably gonna be enourmous and will stress out the fish..
but then I said that it will be facing slightly upwards..
is that o.k.?

i am starting to think he is right..will a 40gallon breeder tank be suitable for an XP3? Like would the tubings even fit..or will they be too long for a 16" high tank?
he's also saying that the water will only get filtered in one side because of "circular current"
