Rescue clown loach, keep or rehome?

Last night, I went to get my dog a toy at petco, can came across a 3 inch clown loach for free, in a ~2.5g tank. It was also housed with many other fish. I didn't think that it would end up in a good home, so I picked up the little guy. I remember having clown loaches in my dad's 180g tank a long time ago, and how they would hide all day if they didn't have a friend, or even with a school, they would sit in this one cave. But when I woke up the next morning, the loach was swimming around the tank, I fed him some pellets, and he was more outgoing on day 1 than any fish I've had. I am going to my LFS Monday to buy some community fish to stock my tank (75g). The plan was a pair of bolivian rams, an EBA, a few pearl gourami's, and either pictus catfish or corydoras. However, I'm tempted to keep the loach with either 5 or so more (aware I would need to rehome at some point), solo (probably not since that would be torture), or just simply rehome him to a better place instead of a 2g at petco. Just please help me solve this dilemma.
