posted this on general aquaria earlier but no one seems to have enough knowledge about them. anyone got info on these fish? max size? requirements? behavior? saw these at an LFS today and they are super cheap, ($4) they look cool. wanna buy one!

would work in a community? might buy 1 or 2 tomorrow. they look kick***!!! even at around 4" i can see their teeth already. and awfully cheap too....i've read they're hard to come by?

I don't have a great picture of my rhamp. but here are a few. From what I have experienced they are fast swimming and love open areas to swim. He does however hang out beside a large vertical rock (24"). Mine is very calm, doesn't chase fish often. He very rarely goes to the bottom half of the tank. Reminds me of a barracuda, he just hovers for mins. at a time but is very quick when he wants to be. Mine is about 8-9" and hasn't grown much in the last six months, and I have some fish as small as 2-3" and he doesn't take shots at them. He does hunt fry like it's his job.

Sweet rhampso! I've seen them on lists here and there, but never known anyone to keep them.

very nice, first hand experience. great info..so safe to assume they don't pass the foot mark then? how much did u spend on one?

got this badda** fish earlier. bagged it! i'll post pics later on. very active and if i may say, skittish?

Wow, that one is very good looking. It has tons of yellow on the fins and tail. Maybe mine is a female.

Mine is also kinda shy, my bucco, champ, and fusco are much much more aggressive. And they up until about a few months ago were smaller than my Rhamp. They have since passed him. But they dont ever bother him/her.
