Hi!
I did a post like this about the Giraffe Catfish and did get some nice information. Let's do the same about the Ripsaw Catfish "Oxydoras Niger"

  • What do you know about it and do you have any personal experience from having one?
  • feeding?
  • Tank size? Minimal/Recomended
  • Can you have tankmates? If yes what mates?
  • Any other information that you know.
Lets hope this thread will help others and just not me :)

ahh a very interesting cat they will eat most food and alot of it
for tank size they get 3 feet long so a tank at least that wide is needed there a big cat but just cause there big doen't mean they can't have tankmates almost never aggressive can be kept with a number of fish and other cats they don't have very big mouths so they can be kept with fish much smaller than themselfs

What about:

1x Ripsaw Catfish
2x Giraffe Catfish
1x Silver arowana at top to make the aquarium look a lil bit more "alive".
Is that a good setup if you have the space? I think that would be very nice since both Ripsaw and Giraffe doesn't have the crazy wide mouth as the RTC has, so they atleast won't eat eachother. And the arowana will be safe if its big enough.

Tuda,
I keep a niger, giraffe and silver aro all in the same tank. They do well together but the giraffe does tend to push around the niger. The niger is catching up in size so it will be interesting to see if the "bossing around" stops in the future. They are both great cats and don't cause any real problems.

Let's see pics of this fish!

should work fine mabye more fish depending on the size of the tank

I 've got a 6" rip saw in a 100 gallon with two green terrors and a paroon catfish. Rip saw's are extremely calm non aggressive. will adapt to eating anything you want to feed them. If you want to see a 32" rip saw go to anythingfish.com and check out the 8000 gallon tank this guy has two rip saw one you will see someone holding it as its being acclimated in the tank this is the 32 incher.

woah, that Ripsaw is awsome! I checked my LFS yesterday and they said they had one in stock. Today when I rang them for more information they told me that the Ripsaw was sold! :( Guess thats just my usual bad luck, one good thing though is that they have some Giraffe Catfish in stock and my understanding is that they are kinda rare so I guess I'll make a trip to the LFS soon :)
