I was transferring one of my Royal Plecos yesterday to my Umbee tank and I noticed it had a patch of exposed white skin in the back of its head. I'm not sure what this is, it sorta looks as if someone had abraded that patch of skin with sandpaper.
He was in a tank with a few other Royal Plecos of the same size, so I'm thinking maybe one of them was responsible. I have been told Plecos suck on other fishes skin when there isn't enough food available, and that Royal Plecos can be territorial towards other members of their own species, so maybe he was getting picked on.
