Ive got these 2 senegal bichirs both around 4 to 5 inches, that ive had for a few months in a 20 gallon along with a 1and a half inch texas cichlid i think i bought them all from petsmart,I was wondering how fast the Bichirs grow, and the size tank id need to keep them in at full size. im waiting for them to get a little bigger so my oscar and tilapia dont consider them worms.Ive been feeding the bichirs frozen blood worms, hikari cichlid pellets and some sinking pellets.but after like a 2 inch growth spurt their not growing as fast and the smaller of the 2 is smaller than the bigger even though i got them at the same time and feed them the same
So how fast do bichirs grow.

they usually grow a few inches a month and youll need atleast a 75-100 and up because they can get over 13 inches long, i personally had one around 16 inches in a 75 gallon and i had to put him in a 150 because he got stressed but, id put him in a 50 just for now, then when huge a 100 or up

Is any of this true? Healthy, normal growth is an inch every month or two, minimum they need is a 40g breeder, max out at 12" but normally don't go past 10".

Also I'd love to see a pic of your 16" Senegal...

see thats the weird things its been like 2 months i got htem at 3 inches and after a few weeks they reached 5 inches and theyve kinda stayed that way so iwas wondering if anything was stunting their growth, i plan on putting them in a 55 gallon, and later on a 125 gallon or a pond

oh well do u think a 13 inch oscar and a 8 inch tilapia might be a problem, ive got a big piece of cypress and a log and fake plants but bichirs arent the fastest fish either.

it depends on the size of the species. from what it looks, your bichirs are way to small and might be considered worms to those fish. For 2 senegals, a 55-70 gallon should be fine for both, but make sure you have no other bottom dwellers, and a couple of hiding spots to satisfy both of them. also having live plants (floating and on the ground) would really please them and act more natural since theyll feel more comfortable.

also, at the lid, (in case if you didnt know already) make sure to have a 1-2 inch space between the lid and the water since they breathe air. :)

ive got a fake log a fake plant that just floats there and a little cave for them, the smaller one seems to have taken the log and the bigger one took the cave thought itd be the other way around and my plan is this
when big enough put them in the 55 how long would they have to be at this point btw
and at the end put them in a 125 that will be shared with a tilapia, oscar a jack dempsey when their all full grown

Senegals grow slow. I had a longfin, albino, and 2 regulars, and from my experience they grow slow. The biggest I had was about 9/10in. I've never heard of anything bigger then that IMO but could be worng. The minimum I would keep them in is a 55 gallon, 40 would be fine if its only both of them. I've got bichirs smaller then the senegals and they would out grow them so in my experience all bichirs grow different and as for sen polys they grow slow....
