sexing and species

Good Morning All,

Can anyone assist me in identifying which Geophagus these are? Also are they male or female. I have attached a Pic of both, The suspected female is by the tiki ornament while the suspected male is against the black background. I was told these are surinamensis.

I can't comment on species because there are so many that look so much alike, and the difference may be few spots on a certain fin, or a mid blotch one side off center that separates one from the other.
That said Geophagine males usually have much steeper defined profiles.
Here is a couple examples.
Male

female, less steep more rounded below

At maturity males also seem to get more flowing fins, and sometimes more striking colors

Thanks a bunch duanes duanes I might have to wait until they reach sexual maturity before I can accurately determine. I will attach another pic thats more clear in the event it might help someone help me
