I have a group of 7 from CoTA 4”-6”. Without venting them, how can u sex Rostratus. Not singling any fish out from my photos.....

Nice pick up! That is good you got a group, I wish I did. They do better.
Sexing is best done by venting or if they pair. It seems dominant males will get a hump. I believe mine is a male for reference.

I had a group of a dozen from COA, I could never tell gender until a pair bonded and"paired" off.
Before I got them, I'd always heard stories about how aggressive they were if kept as pair, but in my large group, I never saw any aggression.

Similar. The mouth is a little different. Kept them together and no issues. The only fish mine has gotten aggressive with was a nic and h. Deppi. Mine was much bigger (still is) and would nonstop chase. Never hurt anything though. My rostratus is around 10”. Robertsoni was 11” when she died. Both really slow growers, pretty close growth rates IME.

I also became enamored of the other Cribroheros, and had a half dozen young Robertsoni, and a few longimanus.
Before revision the above two, rostratus, and Wajpamheros nourisatti, were all considered Astatherines.
