and tell me some tips to differentiate male and female salvini cichlid ...

If I remember correctly, salvini females have a lot more red than males. I believe that's a female.

I wouldn't stereotype all female fish as dull though just generally less colorful or different pattern then the males..female Salvini are among the exceptions to this.... female festae are bright red....female convict have orange on their sides... Female Rio mag umbies get a bright greenish yellow... to name a few...here is my female jag... Would you call that dull?....

Female for sure. On salvinis the blue/black blotch is what you really want to look for. Males in some locations do have red like the ones found in the Candeleria River, Mexico.
